Community engagement

Throughout my personal and professional life I have engaged in social impact work that aims to empower marginalised communities. I am invested in undertaking meaningful community development/ engagement and currently work part time at the Anti Discrimination Board of NSW as an Assistant Community Engagement Officer.

I have over six years experience working professionally in the fields of Community Engagement/Cultural Consultancy and believe in a multi- faceted approach to meaningful community engagement & development. In both my corporate, community and creative capacities I endeavour to create safer, inclusive and accessible spaces for people from marginalised backgrounds and apply a two pronged, intersectional approach to my work that centres marginalised voices.

In my role as co-organiser and media spokesperson of the Inaugural Women's March on Sydney (2017) , I played a crucial role in ensuring that women and non binary folk from marginalised backgrounds were provided a platform to speak and have their concerns addressed.

During my time working with Australia’s multicultural broadcaster SBS as a Stakeholder Relations Coordinator, I built on my comprehensive understanding of key issues and concerns that exist within marginalised communities in Australia. In my role I developed long-lasting relationships with a diverse range of community, industry and government networks. Through relationship building I learnt how to strategically meet the varying needs of stakeholders, and feed this information through to the SBS Executive for their consideration when decision making. While I was working at SBS I was the youngest of 9 members selected to join the SBS Pride Guide Committee in 2018, where we created an educational resource for SBS journalists and newsmakers reporting on LGBTQIA+ issues.

I was also selected to sit on the 2018 ANZ and  Mardi Gras Community Grants Assessment Panel on behalf of SBS where I applied my community knowledge alongside distinguished CEOS to distribute funds to LGBTQIA+ individuals and NFP organisations.

Meaningful, positive engagement is a crucial part of community engagement and I am passionate about developing innovative strategies and partnerships alongside communities that have a firm focus on intersectionality and centering the voices of marginalised communities.I pride myself on my ability to foster sustainable outcomes for community participation by working collaboratively with marginalised communities and clients.
